The design is inspired by the kanji character 心 (kokoro), meaning “heart” or “spirit.”
The choice of this character reflects our deep respect for the pursuit of knowledge in martial arts and the importance we place on zanshin—a state of continued awareness that is unique to martial disciplines.
Thus, the emblem signifies both preparedness of mind and mental discipline.
Red: Passion
Blue: Calmness and tranquility
Calligraphic circle (fudemaru): Aspiration for self-improvement
Former Joden Shihan of the Takeda-ryu Nakamura-ha.
Director, Johoku Soubukan – Japan Soubudo Federation.
From a young age, I studied under Kaiden Shihan Masayuki Toyoshima at Sakado Soubukan, where I began my training in the Takeda-ryu Nakamura-ha. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to mastering various disciplines within this tradition.
During my competitive years, I consistently ranked among the top contenders, specializing in powerful striking techniques and effective counters to throws.
In June 2006, I was appointed the youngest Dojocho (head instructor) within the Japan Soubudo Federation and assumed leadership of Johoku Soubukan in Kotake-cho, Nerima Ward, Tokyo.
In 2012, together with members and supporters of Johoku Soubukan, I founded the International Aikido Association, a certified NPO, along with the Aiki Isshin-ryu. I continue to serve as Representative Director and Chief Instructor.
... [Omitted for brevity]
In April 2021, I began offering real-time remote instruction to students living in the Kingdom of Belgium.
From June to November 2021, I was invited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where I conducted instruction in Aikido, Iaido, Tachi-jutsu, Jo-jutsu, and Sofu-jutsu.
In April 2024, I visited a dojo in Arlon, Belgium, where I provided direct instruction and held a formal meeting with the Mayor of Arlon.
In July 2024, I was again invited to Saudi Arabia to continue Aikido instruction.

A comprehensive martial arts system founded by Yoshinaka Suzuki, following many years of dedicated training in the Takeda-ryu Nakamura-ha, with the aim of reaching even greater heights.
Aiki Ishin-ryu offers training in Aikido, Iaido, Jujutsu Kenpo, Jodo, Sofu-jutsu (paired fan techniques), and Shuriken-jutsu, all of which draw from the traditions of Takeda-ryu and its Nakamura lineage.
A distinguishing feature of the style is its practical emphasis and the revitalization of Aiki no Jutsu, a technique historically used primarily in classical swordsmanship. This is pursued in the spirit of onko chishin—"learning from the past to develop the new."
The school actively engages in exchanges with international students and other organizations, with the mission of promoting the principles and techniques of traditional Japanese martial arts both domestically and abroad.
A dynamic exercise method based on hard yoga, incorporating movements that mimic animals.
This unique approach was introduced to our association over 25 years ago by Representative Director Yoshinaka Suzuki, who learned it as “Animal Diet” from Mr. Rick Kowarick during his training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Since then, it has been integrated into our programs as a method for strengthening core stability and enhancing balance.
The exercises simultaneously target both the inner muscles—essential for improving posture—and the outer muscles, which are highly effective for burning fat. This combination promotes overall body conditioning and contributes to improved physique.
Classes tailored for women are also available, with full support provided by experienced instructors, allowing participants to train safely and comfortably at their own pace.
We dispatch instructors to dojos located abroad.
Representative Director Yoshinaka Suzuki, along with black belt practitioners who train in Aiki Ishin-ryu in Tokyo, are sent to overseas dojos to conduct demonstrations and provide instruction.
In addition, we are actively working to create an accessible training environment for international individuals who are newly interested in Japanese martial arts, ensuring they can begin practice without unnecessary barriers.
Our past activities have included cultural exchange initiatives such as introducing Japanese martial arts and culture in meetings with foreign government officials, and promoting future international collaborations. We have also conducted site visits to Samourai-Medieval, a European martial arts equipment supplier, to inspect and assess product quality.
Online training mainly for students residing overseas.
Utilizing video conferencing tools, we offer instruction focused on non-contact disciplines such as Iaido forms, which are well-suited for remote practice.
The image above shows a training session with a student living in Belgium. This initiative has also been featured on their local television.
While the efficiency of online instruction may not fully match that of in-person training at the dojo, it allows students to verify whether they have properly retained what they learned on-site. As a result, long-term training can be pursued with confidence and clarity.
